Michael

Michael (2026) is a sweeping biographical film exploring the complex life of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson (played by Jaafar Jackson). The movie covers his rise from the Jackson 5 to global stardom through the 1988 Badtour, highlighting his musical genius, demanding relationship with his father, Joseph Jackson, and the immense pressure of his stardom.

This movie was great for what it was.   If you would be interested in seeing a movie about the music and early life of Michael Jackson while he rose to superstardom this did a great job of that in a very "feel good" kind of way.   If you are looking for a complete biographical movie with the off the wall adult part of his life there was no way that was going to be in this because it was made by his family/estate.   It stopped at the Bad tour and could definitely be seen as a fluff piece but it was still enjoyable and his nephew's acting along with Colman Domingo as his father was really good (even if the latter looked like an Eddie Murphy character from Coming To America).

I would absolutely recommend this movie to fans of Michael Jackson's music.   Anyone looking for a complete biography will definitely end up frustrated by the fluff spin throughout this movie.

Obsession

When shy music store employee Bear (Michael Johnston) fails to win over his childhood friend Nikki (Inde Navarrette), he breaks a "One-Wish Willow" trinket, wishing she would love him "more than anyone in the world". The spell works immediately, but Nikki’s affection quickly mutates into a toxic, violent, and nightmarish fixation that traps Bear in his own dream-come-true. As her behavior spirals into madness, Bear realizes he has forced a grotesque, irreversible reality on them both, turning a romantic fantasy into a fight for survival.

This was one super weird movie.    On one hand it had quite honestly the worst acting I have ever seen.   The lead girl was good but the rest of the cast was like plucked off the street and it massively showed.   However, the goal of building tension and having you watch all scenes on edge about what the girl was going to do was actually really well done.   Like it made you super uncomfortable and made it that pretty much any reaction she had to something made you pull back.   So kudos to that but like the rest of it was very mailed in and made it a not really good movie.   LOL

I would sort of suggest this movie to certain people just because the manipulation of sound and tension with the obsessed girl.  But it is admittedly not a good overall movie by any means.

Lee Cronin's The Mummy

After daughter Katie (Natalie Grace) vanishes in Egypt, parents Charlie (Jack Reynor) and Larissa (Laia Costa) are devastated. When she is found eight years later, she is mummified and nearly catatonic, only to be revealed as a possessed vessel.

Couple of things here . . . . . . . 1 - How do you put your name in the title when you have pretty much nothing to your name?  2 - How in the blue hell do you make a mummy horror movie that is 2 hours and 17 minutes long?   Like maybe if this was a 90 minute horror movie - since ZERO background/build up was needed whatsoever - this could have been somewhat watchable for a jump scare and gorefest kind of movie.  But it just went on forever and was ultimately just there.

I would not recommend anyone bothering with this movie.  It is by no means a worthy watch and waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too long.

Deep Water

An eclectic group of international passengers en route from Los Angeles to Shanghai are forced to make a harrowing emergency landing in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. The plane, having suffered an explosion in the cargo hold, breaks apart, scattering survivors across the vast, deep water.

What a huge pile of trash this was.  Remember when Renny Harlin was a relevant action director.  Now it's just this.  I mean I didn't expect much from the trailer but this was somehow even lamer than the expectations in all honesty.  Longest plane crash ever.  LOL.  And then trying to deal with starks for 45 minutes.  This would have been lame even as a Netflix movie honestly.

I would not recommend anyone bothering with this movie ever.   So lame.

Normal

Ulysses (Odenkirk) takes an interim job in snowy Normal, Minnesota, finding a peaceful town that hides a deadly secret—a massive, illicit weapons and cash cache connected to the Yakuza.

Is Bob Odenkirk just like the new Liam Neeson?  This movie was just like Nobody and Nobody 2 but him wearing a cop's uniform.  Normal looking guy out of place has to fight his ass off to survive.   It's forgettable the second you are done watching it but a decent watch while you are.  LOL!

I wouldn't really recommend anyone bothering with this.  It's ultimately just there and definitely Liam Neeson replacement type casting.

The Drama

As the couple prepares for their wedding in Boston, they and their friends (played by Mamoudou Athie and Alana Haim) play a dinner game, revealing "the worst thing you’ve ever done". The evening turns uncomfortable when Emma reveals a harrowing secret from her teenage past: she once planned a school shooting, even bringing a weapon to school, before deciding not to go through with it.

This was a very weird movie - especially considering the casting.   Like it was just a convo that spiraled way out of control.   That was literally the whole movie.   All sorts of over the top psychological reactions to a convo and how it massively snowballed.  And that might have been okay but the way that it was filmed in like this desperately wanting to be considered artsy way was incredibly annoying and pretty much ruined the movie.

I wouldn't really recommend anyone checking this out.   It's not even worth the time if you have it.

Crime 101

A master thief planning a final, massive job is chased by a dedicated cop while battling an unhinged rival thief.

This movie had a really really great cast and it very much made the movie.   It wanted desperately to be like Heat and you could feel that from the start.  My only real issue with this movie was the pacing of it being SUPER slow.  Like this movie could have easily been 30 minutes shorter.

I would definitely recommend people checking this out though.  As slow paced as it was it was still an enjoyable watch for sure.

They Will Kill You

After her sister goes missing, Asia Reaves (Beetz) takes a job at "The Virgil," a high-end apartment complex, to infiltrate the building. She finds that the elite residents are part of a cult led by the building’s superintendent (Arquette) and that the tenants are immortal worshippers of a demonic entity. Armed with survival skills, Asia must navigate the deadly building to save her sister, resulting in high-octane combat and "cartoonish brutality."

Is this now like a genre of movie?   Escape satanic cult survival with crazy gore?   This is essentially just another more off the wall version of Ready Or Not and Ready Or Not 2.   Desperate person put in desperate situation and must survive at all costs.   This one was even more off the wall than other very similar movies though.   And that very much does not mean it made it better.   LOL

I wouldn't recommend that anyone bother with this unless you are the type that can see a movie that is so bad and manage to enjoy it for its lunacy.   If that is the case then this movie is right up your alley.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie

After Bowser's defeat in the 2023 film, his son Bowser Jr. launches a crusade to free his father from captivity, forcing Mario and friends to travel through outer space and across new galaxies to stop him.

This was the definition of a more of the same sequel.   The animation was great, you know and love the characters from the first one and the introduce new ones that you connect with too.   The story is pretty much irrelevant.   The kids love it and you love it because of being connected to it in some way for pretty much your whole life.  So just enjoy the ride.

I would recommend people checking this out.   It will be just as big as the first one if not bigger and its worth the couple of hours.

Scream 7

When a new Ghostface killer emerges in the quiet town where Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) has built a new life, her darkest fears are realized as her daughter (Isabel May) becomes the next target. Determined to protect her family, Sidney must face the horrors of her past to put an end to the bloodshed once and for all.

This was a decent entry in the franchise.  I mean let's be honest at this point they are not reinventing anything and it's really just more of the same.  It was a decent amount of nostalgia, a good enough amount of jump scares and they actually definitely upped the violence of the kills which caught me off guard.

I would recommend any fan of the franchise checking this out.  It was a decent entry and nothing to really complain about.

You, Me & Tuscany

You, Me & Tuscany centers on Anna, an American who becomes ingratiated with an Italian family after tricking them into thinking she is marrying their son Matteo. But tensions rise when Anna begins to develop feelings for the family’s other son, Michael.

Even thought this movie was beyond cliche and predictable in every way, it really was a very enjoyable rom-com.  The chemistry between the leads was great and the role characters that filled out the rest of the cast each brought their own stamp to the movie to make it more watchable.

I would definitely recommend people checking this out.  It was a very fun and crowd pleasing watch.

Ready Or Not 2: Here I Come

Following her bloody triumph over the Le Domas family, Grace's nightmare is far from over. Ready or Not 2: Here I Come finds Grace and her estranged sister, Faith, hunted by a new, more dangerous cabal of, elites, eager to seize the High Seat of the Satanic Council. As the game returns with new, convoluted rules overseen by a mysterious "Lawyer" (Elijah Wood), Grace must transform from victim to hunter in a desperate battle to survive another night.

This movie is pretty much just more of the first.  There was nothing added except for the sister and two people being hunted instead of one.   Same kind of dark humor, gore and chaos.   If you liked the first one I don't see why you wouldn't like it.

I would recommend it to anyone that liked the mindless gore/action of the first.  If you have not seen that I have no idea why you would go anywhere near this.

Hoppers

What if you could talk to animals and understand what they're saying? In Disney and Pixar's all-new feature film "Hoppers," scientists have discovered how to "hop" human consciousness into lifelike robotic animals, allowing people to communicate with animals as animals!

When I saw this trailer the first thought in my head was um . . . . . . . . isn't this just Avatar but for animals?  And it pretty much was but in a much more heartwarming way.   The fact that they actually acknowledged at one point might have been the biggest laugh in the whole movie.   But the movie was very funny with great characters and connections.  This felt very much like Pixar getting back to its roots instead of being a little too specific with their recent releases.

I would definitely recommend people checking this out.   It was a very enjoyable watch for both adults and the kids that they bring to it.

Avatar: Fire And Ash

The conflict on Pandora escalates as Jake and Neytiri's family encounter a new, aggressive Na'vi tribe.

These movies are very weird to review.  Visually - they are always stunning.  Honestly the only movies that you should be sure to go out of your way to see in 3D because of the technology used to film them.   The action scenes are great.  But like you can't really comment on the acting because well . . . . . . . . it's voice acting.   And the story is pretty much just there.  Has been from the beginning.   And then there is the run time of this movies that is just downright painful.  Like seeing this after a long week and long day of work was a massive mistake.  LMAO!!!

Was it enjoyable - sure.  Again, visually amazing.  Like nothing can touch these.   But does it have to be sooooooooooooo long?

Reminders Of Him

After a perfect outing with her boyfriend, Kenna (Maika Monroe; The Hand that Rocks the Cradle, Longlegs) makes an unbearable mistake that sends her to prison. Seven years later, Kenna returns to her hometown in Wyoming, hoping to rebuild her life and earn the chance to reunite with her young daughter, Diem, whom she has never known.

This is another heart string puller from the Colleen Hoover books to movies train.   It is a good watch if that is your kind of movie.   However, if you saw the trailer you quite honestly saw the movie.  I was honestly so confused that I could have sworn I had seen this but it was just the exposure of the movie from the trailers and commercials that gave you everything already.

I would somewhat recommend this movie to people.  It is not a must see by any means whatsoever.  But it is a decent watch regardless.

The Bride!

After a century of solitude, Frankenstein's monster seeks a mate, resulting in the reanimation of a murdered woman. The Bride, however, refuses to be merely a companion, asserting her independence and initiating a violent, romantic outlaw journey.

What in the blue fucking hell was this!?!   I'm sorry but this movie was such hot garbage.  How did these actors say yeah let's do this.   The first half was like a weird genre hopping movie between horror, comedy, drama, musical.  And then the second half was literally Bonnie & Clyde but with . . . . . monsters.

I would not recommend anyone bother with this movie.  Ever.

GOAT

Will is a small goat with grand ambitions, dreaming of becoming the greatest of all time (GOAT) in "roarball"—a high-intensity, full-contact, co-ed sport dominated by massive predator animals. Living in the hectic urban landscape of Vineland, Will gets a once-in-a-lifetime chance to join his favorite team, the struggling Thorns. Despite skepticism from teammates and a, , , arrogant superstar MVP standing in his way, Will is determined to prove that he has what it takes to revolutionize the game.

This was actually better than what I expected.  I figured it would just be the underdog sports movie which it very much was.  But the movie also had a lot of character development and good moral/uplifting side stories that made you much more invested in the movie for adults since kids were already guaranteed to like it.

I would definitely recommend families checking this out.  It was a better than expected enjoyable movie.

Wuthering Heights

The film centers on the intense, destructive bond between Catherine Earnshaw (Robbie) and her adopted brother/soulmate Heathcliff (Elordi). It highlights their shared trauma, social displacement, and cruel manipulation of others.

Movies based in this time period have always been kind of like my kryptonite.  There is something about how overly dressed and proper they all are.  LOL!!   This movie definitely had the same effect for me even though it was more watchable than most.  This just seemed like a Romeo & Juliet kind of movie in that time period.

I would sort of recommend anyone that loves tragic love stories checking this out.  Otherwise, there would really be no reason for you to bother.

Solo Mio

A wedding disaster leaves a groom stranded in Rome, heartbroken in the world's happiest city. However, with help from a determined local and a few meddling couples, his ruined honeymoon becomes an adventure that he never expected.

This was a cute yet completely formula movie.  It was kind of different to see a rom-com with a leading man instead of a leading woman.  And Kevin James actually did a really good job in the role.  He left his usual silly comedy on the side and it made the movie feel genuine enough to keep you interested.

I would somewhat recommend people checking this movie out.  It's a decent enough watch.

Dracula

Directed by Luc BessonDracula: A Love Tale (2026) is a gothic romantic drama starring Caleb Landry Jones as a 15th-century prince who renounces God after his wife’s tragic death, becoming an immortal vampire. Centuries later, he traverses time to find her reincarnation in 19th-century Europe, pursued by a relentless priest (Christoph Waltz).

I honestly tried to give this movie a chance.   I made it about halfway through and honestly had no clue what was going on nor did I care at all.  There was literally no hook in this movie at all and it was not even worth finishing.

I would not recommend anyone bothering with this movie at all.  It's a total waste of time.

I Can Only Imagine 2

A decade after the chart-topping success of "I Can Only Imagine," Bart Millard is on top of the world, but his personal life is fracturing. When his son faces a life-altering health diagnosis, Bart is forced to confront his past to avoid repeating the mistakes of his father. Featuring new music and a deeper look into the power of gratitude, this powerful sequel follows the journey behind the hit song "Even If".

This movie was exactly what you would think it was.   A spiritual heart string puller that is a decent watch.   Very similar to the first one - these types of movies really depend on your mindset when currently watching them.  If you are open to inspiration and hope at the time they are great and very reassuring.  If you are not you watch them like get the hell out of here.  LOL!

I would somewhat recommend people checking this out.  Like I said - if you are in the right mindset it is a decent watch.

Send Help

A woman and her overbearing boss become stranded on a deserted island after a plane crash. They must overcome past grievances and work together to survive, but ultimately, it's a battle of wills and wits to make it out alive.

The movie honestly gave away pretty much every part of this movie in the marketing.  Like there were no huge curves or shocks.    There were jump scares and stuff but the movie was pretty formula.  That being said it was still a very enjoyable watch because of the dynamic between the two leads.  This was basically a very enjoyable tension raising movie.

I would definitely recommend people checking this out.  Be warned that there are some serious gory scenes but like they feel pretty real under the circumstances of the characters' plight.

28 Years Later: The Bone Temple

Dr. Kelson finds himself in a shocking new relationship with consequences that could change the world as he knows it, while Spike's encounter with Jimmy Crystal becomes a nightmare he can't escape.

Not gonna lie - I thought 28 Years Later was TERRIBLE.   Like I did nothing but make fun of it while watching it for a whole bunch of reasons.   The ending of that movie was so random and ridiculous because I didn't know it was part of a two part movie filmed together that ended super randomly.   So my expectations for this were rock bottom.   I don't know if it was because of the super low expectations or just the fact that this movie actually was better I liked it more than 28 Years Later.   I'm not saying anyone should rush and see this.  Not at all.  There are still some incredibly laughable moments and characters in this.   Just that it was a better watch than the last one.

I would somewhat recommend that people check this movie out.  This is a better continuation than the last entry was but again - this could just be the annoyance of the last movie effecting my opinion.

The Strangers - Chapter 3

The film picks up directly after Chapter 2, with Maya in a cat-and-mouse game with Scarecrow (Gabriel Basso) and Dollface after she previously killed Pin-Up Girl.

How in the blue hell did this movie get a trilogy?   Like I will be asking that forever.   And how do you take one of the most genuinely scary movies I have seen over the years and do a trilogy prequel to it that is this bad and utterly pointless?   This movie was just as dull and stupid as Chapters 1 and 2.

I would not recommend anyone bothering with this.  Like ever.   Any of them.

Primate

Lucy's tropical island homecoming turns deadly when her family's clever chimpanzee, Ben, becomes rabid. With her father away and no help coming, paradise becomes a prison as Lucy and her friends fight for survival against a pet they once trusted.

The movie?   The movie was garbage.   Like exactly what you would expect from random pet chimp gets rabies storyline.   Silly horror.  The movie going experience though?   I have rarely laughed this hard during a trash movie like this.   There were two people a couple rows back from us that were doing commentary the whole movie and my bestie and I couldn't remotely get annoyed because it was like they were going off a script from our minds over the last twenty years.   I saw this movie three days ago and I am still laughing about the experience.

Good Luck Have Fun Don't Die

A "Man from the Future" (Rockwell) arrives in the present to stop a super-intelligent AI from being created, facing off against police, zombies, and other dangers in a time-loop scenario.

This movie was quirky as hell but that was honestly its hook.   It started to get a little too complicated later on but at least they had done a good enough job of hooking you so that you were invested in seeing how it all turned out.  And let's be honest - who doesn't enjoy watching Sam Rockwell in pretty much anything.   LOL

I would somewhat recommend people checking this movie out.  It's extremely quirky at times like I said but if you can get past that its a pretty good movie overall.

Shelter

Mason, a former elite operative living in self-imposed exile on a remote Scottish island. After rescuing a young girl named Jesse from a deadly storm, his isolated life is shattered, forcing him to confront his dangerous past and protect her from enemies.

This was exactly what you would think it is.  Jason Stratham 35.  Guy trying to avoid his past gets forced
to remember all his fighting skills and protect an innocent person.

I wouldn't really recommend anyone bothering with this.  Its honestly just another retread of all his
movies.

Mercy

In the near future, an advanced AI judge tells a captive detective that he's on trial for the murder of his wife. If he fails to prove his innocence within 90 minutes, he'll be executed on the spot.

This movie was a decent premise and was definitely short enough to be an enjoyable watch.  It was pretty formula and easy to figure out but the time crunch tension made it work.   I am confused about the star power in the movie and the fact that it was filmed in IMAX and had some of the most limited marketing I have seen for a wide release in a long time though.

I would somewhat recommend people checking this out.  It is not a must see by any means but its also not bad and a pretty good quick watch.

Marty Supreme

In the 1950s, young Marty Mauser pursues his dream of becoming a champion table-tennis player.

This was a very well done character drama.   I'm not sure how this was a biographical story that was relevant enough that needed to be told but it was very well done.  It was done in a way where you are somehow absolutely hating the main character for his selfishness and narcissistic ways but are strangely rooting for him somehow at the same time.   Timothee Chalamet did a really great job with this role.

I would recommend people checking this movie out.  It's a little bit longer than it probably should have been but it was a really good watch.

Greenland 2: Migration

In the aftermath of a comet strike that decimated most of the planet, the Garrity family must leave the safety of their Greenland bunker to traverse a shattered world in search of a new home.

I know that I watched the original but have pretty much no memory of it whatsoever except for some armageddon type visual effects.   I watched this movie today and I can honestly say the same exact thing about it.  It is completely forgettable like right after watching it except for some end of the world visual effects that looked cool.  Like that is literally all it is.

I wouldn't recommend anyone bothering with this.  It's pretty much a massive waste of time.

The Housemaid

Hoping for a fresh start, a young woman becomes a live-in maid for a wealthy couple who harbour sinister secrets.

This is a tough movie to review without spoiling anything.   I'll just say that it is very much a movie told in two halves.   And just when the first half is getting kind of boring and formula the movie does a very sharp 90 degree turn and is much better from that point on.  The three leads all did a good job of showing the necessary emotions and the movie ended up being pretty enjoyable.

I would recommend people check this out.  It was definitely a pretty good watch and thankfully made that turn to avoid being boring as hell.

Anaconda

Best friends Griff and Doug have always dreamed of remaking their all-time favorite movie "Anaconda." When a midlife crisis pushes them to finally go for it, they assemble a crew and head deep into the jungles of the Amazon to start filming. However, life soon imitates art when a gigantic anaconda with a thirst for blood starts hunting them down.

This movie was exactly what it was meant to be.   Take a "scary" movie and make it funny by kind of mocking it but still having the jump scares.   It was thankfully barely 90 minutes long, had plenty of fun nostalgia and the two leads played off each other exactly as you would hope.

I wouldn't recommend anyone seeing this because it's a great movie but it is worth the short watch for some good laughs with the added tension in a fun way.

Is This Thing On?

Facing middle age and an impending divorce, Alex finds new purpose in the New York comedy scene, while his wife, Tess, confronts the sacrifices she made for their family.

This movie is the exact kind of movie that explains why I try to see everything that comes out within the year to properly account for the Best or Worst of the previous year.   Right after the year ends that cuts movies off, I see this movie that 100% would have been on my Top 10 of 2025 list.  This was a very genuine and realistic movie about people dealing with relationships, marriages and mental health.  The conversations, the things that they turned to in order to deal with things, the dealing with the friends, family and kids all felt beyond genuine.  Will Arnett did a great great job in this movie.

Zootopia 2

Detectives Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde find themselves on the twisting trail of a mysterious reptile who turns the mammal metropolis of Zootopia upside down. Testing their growing partnership like never before, they go under cover in new parts of town to crack the case.

I went back and watched the original movie about a week before seeing this and honestly forgot how much I had enjoyed it.  This movie is very much the same.  Great banter, great jokes, great messages for kids and adults.   Classic Disney without trying to drive points home too much.   Let's do more of this please.

I would absolutely recommend people checking this out.   Its a great watch for kids and adults with tons of awesome messages.

The SpongeBob Movie: Search For Squarepants

Hoping to prove his bravery to Mr. Krabs, SpongeBob follows a mysterious, swashbuckling ghost pirate known as the Flying Dutchman on a seafaring adventure that takes him to the deepest depths of the ocean.

Another movie that was exactly what it was supposed to be.   Take a continuous string of 4 SpongeBob episodes and mush them together and you have this movie.   If you like SpongeBob then you should see it.  If you don't then why would you start now?

I would definitely recommend this movie to families during the holiday season.  It's a fun and quick watch that the kids and parents can both enjoy.

The Running Man

In the near future, "The Running Man" is the top-rated show on television, a deadly competition where contestants must survive 30 days while being hunted by professional assassins. Desperate for money to save his sick daughter, Ben Richards is convinced by the show's ruthless producer to enter the game as a last resort. Ratings soon skyrocket as Ben's defiance, instincts and grit turn him into an unexpected fan favorite, as well as a threat to the entire system.

I was not sure how to feel about this movie because the original The Running Man was one of my favorite movies as a kid / teenager.  Easily top three Arnold movies for me.   However, they tweaked some things with this remake and made it connect with the world today even though it was set in a dystopian world to make the movie very enjoyable even with the differences.   I was happy I was able to watch it disconnected from that and enjoy it.

I would definitely recommend people checking this movie out.   It was a fun ride and a great platform for Glen Powell as he continues his rise in acting.
