Cars

Pixar's latest movie is set inside the world of cars. Lightning McQueen discovers that life is about the journey, not the finish line, when he finds himself unexpectedly detoured in the sleepy Route 66 town of Radiator Springs. On route across the country to the big Piston Cup Championship, McQueen gets to know the town's offbeat characters who help him realize that there are more important things than fame.

I went in to this movie with very low expectations. Besides it getting pushed back a couple of times by Disney, it was an animated movie about cars. Isn't that kind of limiting the possibilities just a bit? I expected the kids to like it but didn't think it would be anywhere near as enjoyable for adults as Finding Nemo, Toy Story, and The Incredibles were. I was dead wrong. I ended up completely loving this movie and even though they were cars - the side characters were awesome. Mater (voiced by Larry The Cable Guy . . . . . how the hell is that the name this guy will be referred to forever) was one of the best side kicks ever. You really don't appreciate how valuable a good side kick is in an animated movie. I'll go so far as to say that it makes or breaks the film. Shrek had donkey. Marlin and Nemo had Dory. Buzz had Woody and vice versa. Cinderella had Gus Gus. Snow White had the dwarves. I could go on an on. The side kick is mucho importante and Mater was awesome in Cars.

I would fully recommend this movie to all. It's even worth the purchase on DVD.
