Billy Bob Thornton, Seann William Scott, and Susan Sarandon star in Mr. Woodcock. Scott stars as John Farley, a self-help author who returns to his hometown only to discover that his mother (Sarandon) has fallen in love with his old high school nemesis, Mr. Woodcock (Thornton) – the gym teacher who had put him through years of mental and physical humiliation. Determined to prevent history from repeating itself, John sets out to stop his mother from marrying the man who had made life miserable for him and his classmates.
This movie is exactly what the commercial led you to think it was. Billy Bob Thornton plays pretty much the same straight shooter, sarcastic role that he always does. Seann William Scott started the movie trying to act but eventually devolved in to an angry Stifler. I really don't think this guy will ever shed that role. There are a couple of funny moments, but most of the funny lines were in the ads for the movie. You know that they are going to bicker against each other for an hour or so and then make up for the "happy" ending. Its watchable, but you pretty much stop caring about a half hour before the movie ends.
I'd lukewarmly recommend this movie for rental. Its not a must see by any means, but it isn't completely horrid either.
