Following a mysterious absence of several years, the Man of Steel comes back to Earth in Superman Returns. If you don't know anything about Superman - you need to be hit upside the head with a blunt object and pay some attention.
Anywho, everyone should be warned that this movie takes place after Superman II. We are basically supposed to pretend that Supermans III and IV never happened. That would have been a big help if it was a wee bit better advertised like that. It took me about 45 minutes to figure this out and had no idea why they kept referring to Superman taking off and returning now. The movie itself was really good, but Superman is one of the few super heroes that is so limited with what they can do for him with today's technological advances in film. The guy flew in the 70s and he's still flying now. There really isn't that much bang for the buck, you know? I thought that Kevin Spacey was great at Lex Luthor, but that the movie ran way too long ( 2 1/2 hours?).
It's totally worth viewing though and I would give it my full recommendation for everyone to check it out on video.
